This was a board game I developed following the principles of Tracy Fullerton’s “Game Design Workshop”.
As the owners of a speakeasy, it is up to a team of up to five players to keep the operation afloat and from drawing too much suspicion. At the beginning of a player’s turn, they draw from the event deck (affecting the entire team), and roll their movement die. On their turn, it is up to them to fulfill the requirements for any active events. They can do so by utilizing their character abilities, and cooperating to move tokens around. After every 5 rounds, an inspection is held. If the team raises more than 10 suspicion, they lose the game. When they empty the deck and pass the final inspection, they win the game.
The Event deck is a 60 card deck of cards designed to control the game. There are 7 different types of event cards: challenges, drunks, drink orders, greedy rats, upset patrons, and spilled drinks. Challenges will permanently increase suspicion and drink orders give the players the opportunity to earn money. The rest of the events cause an increase in suspicions until they are dealt with.
